Rouse Hill is located 43km from Sydney CBD and is the home of the famous Mean Fiddler (Irish Pub).
Rouse Hill is also the home of Rouse Hill House, which until 1966 was the oldest home in Australia still occupied by members of the original family.
Rouse Hill has grown in population by 2,779 people to around 6,023 people (ABS 2006 Census) which is almost double since 2001. The area is being developed rapidly with new housing, schools, community and shopping facilities. With the development in Rouse Hill and the near by Kellyville the population of the Hills is expected to increase by more than 40, 000 people (BHSC 1999).

The development by Lend Lease/GPT will be in stages and will include;

- Two school sites (one private and one public);
- Retail facilities including supermarkets, specialty shops and entertainment venues;

- Open space and recreation areas.
Shopping in Rouse Hill is currently provided by the Rouse Hills Shopping Centre and Rouse Hill Shopping Village, a number of fruit markets spread out within the area and a number of other facilities. Kellyville is also a good source for day-to-day needs with the opening of Woolworths and soon Coles with 17 specialty shops. Major shopping is provided by Castle Towers Shopping Centre located only 5 -10 minutes drive away in Castle Hill.
Rouse Hill is also the home of Rouse Hill Regional Park a large park that is being developed by the NSW Government. Rouse Hill Regional Park comprises BBQ and Picnic areas, pedestrian paths, roller blade and cycle tracks and a horse riding circuit.
Rouse Hill located on Windsor Rd is close to the M2 motorway allowing residents to travel to Sydney within 40minutes (on a good day). Public Transport to and from the suburb is provided by Westbus.
